Just another internet nobody...

I did really well resisting it last night, but my resolve is failing me.

Cabin crew friend just back from a horrific Ibiza night flight, full of drunken, aggressive yobs...why should he put up with it?

It's the one thing that makes me ashamed to be English. The way we glorify unsociable, yobbish bad behaviour. Whether it's brawling footballers or drug taking pop stars, apparently it makes you some kind of hero if you behave undeniably badly. Now we have a whole generation who have grown up thinking this out-of-control attitude is desirable and will transform them into some kind of hero. Throw in the instant fame of uploaded Facebook photos celebrating them at their worst and you have this type of behaviour becoming the undesirable norm, with an explosive 'oneupmanship' mentality constantly toying with disaster. The fact is, it's not a rites of passage, it's not youthful exuberance and it's not acceptable. Particularly on a plane. Aggressive, threatening behaviour at 28,000 feet has been clamped down on - if you're a terrorist. But if you're a 19 year old, off on holiday with 20 mates, apparently it's fine. It doesn't matter who suffers - fellow passengers or crew - because big stars do it, even get paid for it, and within seconds every one of your friends back home can worship the facebook and twitter headlines proclaiming you as the new 'badman' hero. Whatever happened to the idea that it is cool to be good and to be well behaved? That it's heroic to be decent, honourable and kind? We are heading towards a society run by the bad behaviour we glorify in politicians, footballers and our youth, every day. It's not a world I want to see, or be a part of.

Legacy...

Sadly... My 95 yr old gran has had two strokes and got pneumonia and is in hospital. Its not looking good... She's had an amazing life. 9 children, 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren is a huge legacy. And we are all still connected and in touch. A huge, but close family which revolves around her. She's lived through countless wars and technological innovation as well as watching her own husband of 50years and her eldest son die. I don't know if I could make it to 95 after all that. Even with me being 37, to be on the verge of losing someone who's been there your whole life, and the whole life of every family member, is very sad.

95 years of reality?

My gran is 95. Shes seen planes, cars, iPods, tv, Internet etc all arrive in her lifetime. It's no wonder it's hard for some old people to keep a grip on reality. The world is no longer the place they grew up in, or recognise.

DIY Schools?

And while I'm ranting... Who's bright idea was it to let parents set up their own schools to close the gap between rich and poor? In my experience the less well off parents don't give a flying fuck about their kids education, and the well off ones wouldn't want their precious darling mixing with a poor kid anyway. It'll actually widen the gap. Stop messing with education. Kids continue to suffer.
