Even though my Prison Break heroes are still running, I felt an urgent need to find some new ones. Something else in the epic mini- tv- series category to entertain, enlighten and enthrall me. A place to escape to after work. Then, the answer came from Brian in the form of Heroes. And what an escape. With the premise of
evolution creating a breed of superheroes all with differing powers and abilities, the show had me hooked from the start. Partly because of its brooding, slow-developing nature during the opening episodes - stories werent rushed and over-simplified for a supposedly dumb, concentration-span challenged audience. But also partly because of the likeable characters and believable stories. I like my sci-fi grounded in reality telling smart stories in a smart way and that’s exactly what Heroes does. Original and entertaining TV - and the kind of serial drama programming we just arent doing enough of in the UK these days. My current hero is Hiro - although I have a soft spot for the cheerleader ever since she recovered from the autopsy.. give it a watch and let yourself enjoy a good dose of intelligent, entertaining sci-fi.
