Lights Out London

Thursday, June 21, 2007, 17:17

It’s one of those things that many seem to want to ridicule. Yet the Lights Out London campaign - getting London to switch off as many non essential lights as possible for one hour on June 21st - has got to have been a good thing. The huge billboards in Picadilly went off, Buckingham Palace, London Eye, St Pauls, The Gherkin, Canary Wharf.. and countless others including Tower Bridge which looks scary. Big Ben was just left with its face glowing.. For the obvious environmental reasons of course its a good thing… but for Londoners to pull together again for a cause is always a good thing. Why do we have to wait for terrorist attacks or wars? London is so steeped in history, and has such a great and historic community that can lead the world.. its time as a city is did more to show what can be done. Well done Capital Radio for getting it all together..
